A small cove with a pristine stretch of soft white sand beach laced with lush green coconut trees, Velneshwar, is amongst the most secluded beaches in the entire Konkan stretch. Famous for the Shiva temple located just about 200mts away from the beautiful beach Velneshwar is a destination ideal for those who just want to get away from everything.
The beach and the temple are the main attractions of Velneshwar, apart from the 'Dasha Bhuja Ganpati' temple located in Hedvi just about 5 kms from Velneshwar.
Hedvi is also famous for 'Bahman Ghal' a rare natural phenomenon where continous gradation of the rocks by the sea has created a gorge in the black rock patch about 20 feet deep and 1-2 feet wide. The sea water gushes in and a water column rises through this gorge above the rocks upto 20-30ft!
Velneshwar is flanked by two major tourist destinations of Konkan, Guhagar is located about 17 kms to the north of Velneshwar and Ganpatipule is located across the Tavsal creek about 20 kms south of Velneshwar.
Guhagar a temple town with an ancient fort & a lighthouse and Ganpatipule with the swayambhu Ganpati temple located right on the Ganpatipule beach are ideal one day picnic destinations near Velneshwar.
